Mrs. Abbie Taylor

Hello! I am one of the Intervention Specialists at Utica Middle School. This will be my first year at the middle school and am very excited for this new adventure. I pride myself in seeing the person that I am working with and not the label attached to them. I expect my students to work hard and push themselves while I work alongside them to find strategies that work best for them. This provides students with the best learning environment possible and aides to set them up for success in their future.

I have not always been a schoolteacher, but I have been a teacher for most of my life. I started teaching dance when I was 16 years old. I continued to teach dance off and on for over 20 years. I went to college at the University of Akron, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance with a minor in Business Management. After graduation, I continued to teach dance while I performed professionally for 5 years.

After my husband and I had our third child, I decided to go back to college. I received my Master's Degree in Special Education from Muskingum University. I spent my student teaching term in a high school math resource and co-teaching position at Sheridan High School. After graduation in December, I was hired by the Licking County Educational Service Center and placed in a Multiple Disabilities classroom at Hebron Elementary School to finish out the school year. Following that year, I relocated with the LCESC to Utica Elementary School where I continued to teach for 4 years.

Currently, I am the Utica High School Cheerleading Coach. Previously, I coached the Middle School Cheerleading Squad for a year prior to taking the high school position.

I am proud to be a part of this community and look forward to many years to come.
