Chemistry is a mathematics-based science.  This course will provide an introduction to major chemistry principles while building on concepts introduced in Physical Science.  Through well-designed lab experiences students will master concepts, use problem solving skills, and apply them to real-world situations.   Investigative, hands-on lab activities that address the Ohio Inquiry standards are an integral part of this course.   Topics to be covered include the periodic table, naming compounds and writing chemical formulas, chemical equations and reactions, bonding, calculation of chemical quantities, stoichiometry, properties and behaviors of gases and solutions, and nuclear chemistry.
