Julie Baker

Hello! My name is Julie Baker and I am your child’s math teacher. I have taught at Newton Elementary for 22 years. Prior to that I taught for Newark City Schools. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati and obtained my Master’s degree from The Ohio State University. Go Bearcats!  Go Bucks!

Your child will receive 2 math workbooks this year. Your child will need to bring their math workbook to school every day. We will begin with Volume 1 and I will hand out the 2nd volume later. There will be math homework every night Monday-Thursday. We will go over the homework the next day during class. Therefore, I do not accept any late homework. It is very important that your child do their homework every night. This homework should not take more than 20 minutes each night. If it does, please let me know. Another important thing for your child to practice are basic math facts. If your child is still struggling with addition or subtraction facts, please make or buy some flashcards and practice with those. If your child didn’t master their multiplication facts, we will continue to work on those this year. We have made multiplication flashcards that your child will use each day during math class.

I am available most days BEFORE school at 8:30 am. If you have any questions, concerns, or just need to touch base, I would recommend contacting me then. Please e-mail me at [email protected] or call the office at 740-745-5982.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child. Together we can make this a great year!
