Please take the time to talk with your children about how important it is to let someone know when they hear, see, or know about a potential issue that could affect them. Most times students will have knowledge way before any adult will. Knowledge is power and being aware of things can minimize the tragedies that we are facing today.
Also, please have a conversation with your children about the serious nature of making comments to their friends, on social media, etc. that could be taken as a threat of any kind. Although the student may think the comment is "funny" and they were just "joking," these types of comments will be taken seriously and law enforcement will be contacted immediately.
